Allagash Gateway Campsite Area Activities
Activities are informal, permitting campers to relax and observe the wild animals, birds and flowers and to indulge in picking wild berries in season. Loons and moose are very common.
Children will enjoy the play area which is located in the center of the campsite.
Fishing for salmon, trout and perch is the main activity at the campground.

- Approximately 3 miles from beautiful Ripogenus Dam (after a shower one can almost always view a rainbow there).
- Chesuncook Village (only by boat)
- Woodsmen's Memorial at Chesuncook Dam site.
- Mt. Katahdin is the first place in the United States upon which the sun shines.
- Fishing for salmon, trout and perch is the main activity. There are numerous streams and ponds nearby and the thrill of fly fishing the famous West branch of the Penobscot River.
- Baxter State Park
- Rafting the lower West branch of the Penobscot.
- Canoe shuttle service available to upper West branch with put-in points at Old Roll Dam and Lobster Stream.
- Hunting for deer, moose bear and grouse
- Fly Fishing in the West Branch of The Penobscot River and several other lakes in the area.
